Jay E. Ray has practiced law for fourteen years in the Dallas or Plano offices of several large to medium-sized Texas law firms. Although focusing on appellate and commercial litigation, Jay has a broad range of experience in Texas appellate courts, district courts, county courts at law, and justice of the peace courts, as well as federal appeals, district and bankruptcy courts.  In recent years, Jay has developed a broader practice that includes transactional and business legal services and drafting of wills.  Jay’s clients are equally varied, ranging from corporations in the sports and entertainment industry to middle market companies to individuals.

Jay approaches each matter he undertakes with detailed thoroughness, carefully researching the law and the issues, advising his clients of options, and constructing and presenting persuasive arguments.

Jay is also a mediator available for private or court appointed mediation.  Jay has represented parties on both sides of the docket for more than a decade, representing large and small corporations, insurance companies, small family owned businesses and individuals in a wide variety of litigation and disputes.  Jay's experience allows him to understand the issues and views of parties trying to resolve their disputes through mediation and to help them discuss and consider all possible avenues for resolution of their disputes.

Jay is very active in the American Bar Association and other professional organizations and has been a frequent speaker at conferences throughout the U.S., Europe and Canada.  He chaired the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division in 2006-07 and served on that entity's governing council for 10 years.  He also served in the American Bar Association's House of Delegates for eight years and is currently a member of the Council of the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Division of the ABA.  He previously served on the boards of directors for the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and Texas Young Lawyers Association.

In 2006, Jay was named the Outstanding Young Lawyer of Dallas and has been named a Texas Rising Star.

Jay is also active in his community, serving as an officer of the McKinney Ice Hockey Club and on McKinney's Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Advisory Board.
